Howard Munson: "This artist book was inspired by Alexander Rodchenko and Lyubou Popova, two pioneers of Constructivism. The designs on the figures are based on the paintings, color, and angular shapes that appeared in their paintings, prints, and fabrics. After the 1917 October Revolution, the geometric abstraction of painting was thought to play in the transformation of the society, 'giving a new thing to the new life.'"
